On the 7th & 8th June 2017, COPA Series 2017 will return to ExCeL in London with two days of innovation and development. Speaker: Carlien van Heel Venue: Rudolf Steiner House, Central London Carlien combined her wish for an MA in Body Psychotherapy, with her wish to deepen her understanding of what is actually happening in the body during a psychotherapeutic process. Her PQMA combined revisiting Gerda Boyesen’s theories, the development of Vegeto-therapy and enquiring into physiological and neurological processes in the body. In this presentation Carlien will share some of her findings and relate them to Biodynamic Massage. This will include how the body stores emotional material, the important role of Connective Tissue, and re-visiting Gerda Boyesen's theory of Psycho-Peristalsis. There will be time to discuss and explore together the implications for our clinical practice of Biodynamic Massage. Carlien van Heel, originally from The Netherlands, met the Boyesen family in France in 1982 and felt a strong connection to the work. She moved to London in 1985 to study at the Gerda Boyesen Centre and has been working as a Biodynamic psychotherapist ever since graduating in 1988. She was involved with LSBP from the start in 2001 till December 2013 as a trainer and Training Committee member and became co-director of LSBP between 2010 - 2013. She now lives and works as a Biodynamic psychotherapist, massage therapist and supervisor in Southgate, North London. This event is open to members and non-members. Kate Codrington will be presenting information about the physiological and emotional function of the colon and iliocaecal valve, drawing on her biodynamic massage experience and her recent training in abdominal sacral massage.
There will be time to share our own experiences of working with the colon and digestion in general and also ideas for practical massage techniques. This event is open to members and non-members. Our Spring Meeting was lead by Jane Platts Mills. Jane has retired from practice as a body psychotherapist and continues to teach percussion and African drumming for adults and children. In this work shop Jane shared some simple rhythms which, when played together, combined to create the polyrhythmic music characteristic of West Africa.
